Guzofsky, also known as Yekutiel Ben-Ya'acov, becomes active within the political movement surrounding Rabbi Meir Kahane.

Contemporary reporting places Ben-Ya'acov within Kahane's Kach movement. The New Yorker later identified Yekutiel Ben-Ya'acov as Mike Guzofsky and reported that, while living in New York, he had run the local branch of Kach.

After Kahane's assassination

Contemporary reporting identifies Guzofsky as a figure seeking to continue Kahane's movement.

In January 1991, UPI identified Ben Yaakov as Mike Guzofsky and reported that he claimed Kahane had designated him an heir to the movement. Guzofsky told reporters: “My role comes directly from Rabbi Kahane.”

The Los Angeles Times described Guzofsky in February 1994 as a co-head of Kahane Chai. The Washington Post subsequently identified him as the organisation's U.S. leader.

Public praise for Baruch Goldstein

Following Baruch Goldstein's killing of 29 Muslim worshippers in Hebron, contemporary reporting recorded Guzofsky publicly praising Goldstein.

The Washington Post reported that Guzofsky, identified as Kahane Chai's U.S. leader, described Goldstein as a “hero.”

Israel declares Kach and Kahane Chai terrorist organisations following the Hebron massacre.

The Israeli government declared the organisations illegal in March 1994.

U.S. terrorist designation

The United States designates Kach and Kahane Chai as Foreign Terrorist Organizations.

The designation took effect in October 1997. The U.S. FTO designation was later revoked in 2022.

Excluded from entering Britain

The UK Home Office includes “Mike Guzovsky” on its published list of individuals excluded from Britain.

The Home Office description reproduced by The Guardian cited his leadership of a violent group, involvement with military training camps and conduct involving the fomenting, justification or glorification of terrorist violence.
