Bridges Investigations documented 20 sports-infrastructure projects and interventions between 2023 and 30 July 2026 — from football pitches and sports halls to multi-sport complexes, renovations and projects still moving through planning and tender processes.

A football pitch in Ariel. A regional sports hall in Bruchin. New courts in Giv’at Ze’ev. A sports hall and youth centre in Pisgat Ze’ev. A mini-pitch in Ma’ale Adumim.

Viewed separately, they appear to be local projects.

Mapped together, they reveal a broader pattern of sports infrastructure being built, renovated, reopened or planned across Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

For the second part of Goals in Occupied Lands — The Data, Bridges Investigations examined municipal announcements, tenders, planning and budget documents, government funding records and other open-source material to build a database of sports development since 2023.

A new artificial-turf football pitch on Efrata Road was reported as completed, with a published value of NIS 3.25 million. A later report described the pitch as meeting FIFA standards. The database separately records renovation of the Ariel Sports Center, where the first phase was completed.

The largest individually priced project identified is the Ariel Sportek.

A cornerstone was laid in July 2026 for the NIS 15 million complex, planned to include football, basketball, tennis, pickleball, padel, beach volleyball, and climbing facilities.

Report 01 of this series followed the public money.

Report 02 shows where parts of that wider sports-development system are taking physical form.

The next question is who uses it.
